Alright, Drake thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?

Obsession! I believe you will never achieve success if your not willing to submerge yourself into whatever your doing. Never taking a day off and being obsess with building this idea, this business, or this life your wanting. There hasn’t ever been someone that truly accomplished greatness without being obsessed with their desires.

Hi! I’m Drake Terry and I was born and raised in Chattanooga, TN. I’m a full time Firefighter with the City of Chattanooga. My beautiful wife, Tarin Terry, is a 911 dispatcher. Together we own and operate Truckie Lids. We started Truckie Lids to create and make custom hats for firefighters to show their pride of their truck, station, and fire department.

Shortly after we started the business, we expanded beyond the firefighter community. Local businesses and individuals reached out wanting to place orders. This soon created a customer base across the United States for all of our products. We also offer custom stickers, leather key chains, leather koozies , and leather coasters.

What sets us apart is, unlike many in the industry, there is no minimum quantity order which is huge for people looking to create a unique hat for just themselves, group of friends or small businesses.

We have grown fast over the past year shipping out to over 35 states. We also have several nonprofit organizations we love to collaborate with and are very passionate on giving back to our community. The support we’ve received from our local area means the world to us. We are truly grateful for our beautiful city and all the love our community continues to show us.

I’m most proud of the opportunity to create a family business with my wife and sharing our goals of growing a successful grass-roots business and being an example to those who want to do the same. Showing the younger generations that it doesn’t matter where you come from or your background, If you have passion, work ethic, and motivation you can accomplish anything you want in life.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

What has helped us build our business reputation is having a quick turn around and always putting the customer first. If a issue with a product does come up we make it 100% right and always throw in something extra to apologize for the inconvenience.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

We use mainly Facebook and Instagram. What has helped us out the most is boosting our ads. Spending money on marketing is key to any business. You can be afraid to spend the money and get your product out there. Just believe in yourself and your product and boost away.
